Trump Today: Trump Today: President says he kept ‘Wacky Omarosa’ at White House because she flattered him

President Donald Trump on Monday said he kept an aide at the White House against the wishes of his chief of staff because the staffer praised him repeatedly.

Trump was continuing to react Monday to attacks from his former director of communications for the Office of Public Liasion and Apprentice television-show contestant, Omarosa Manigault Newman, who for a second day released audio she taped at the White House as she promotes a book she’s written.

On the tape, Trump asked her why she was leaving and said, “I didn’t know that at all.”

The president over Twitter called her “wacky” and revealed that Gen. Kelly, his chief of staff, wanted to fire her when he first started in that role but that Trump initially vetoed the idea.

Manigault Newman has said that Trump has declined mentally while in office. “They continue to deceive this nation by how mentally declined he is, about how difficult it is for him to process complex information, how he is not engaged in some of the most important decisions that impacts our country,” she said on Meet the Press.

Trump also defended his usage of Twitter as he attacked her.
